Obituary of Michael Richard Barbera
It is with great heartbreak and loss that the loved ones of Michael Richard [Mike] Barbera, 57, of Thousand Oaks, California, announce his passing on November 12th in Simi Valley, California.
Service and celebration of life will be held at the Rose Family Chapel, 4444 Cochran Street in Simi Valley, California on Thursday November 30th at 11 AM, with Jonathan Mulford officiating. Rose Family Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Mike was born in Sacramento, California to Norma Malacrida and Mario Barbera on March 22nd, 1966. The family moved to Thousand Oaks, California in 1977. He attended Thousand Oaks High School and graduated in 1985. He was the youngest of his friends to get a contractor's license, and worked in construction for over twenty years and owned his own roofing business, Barbera Roofing, for ten years. For the last ten years, he has been the full-time, in-home caretaker of his wife, Samantha Machado, in Simi Valley. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and the companionship of his pet dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Samantha Machado, mother Norma Malacrida, sisters Christin Barbera and Catherine Barbera Sears, daughter Sheryl Barbera, and stepchildren Ashley Estrada-Machado, Dallis Machado, and Joey Machado. He is preceded in death by his father, Mario Barbera.
Mike will be dearly missed not only by his family but all his life touched-his friends, his colleagues, and his community.
