David Kornbluth Obituary
THOUSAND OAKS, CA –- It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Michael Kornbluth who died peacefully at home on July 12, 2025 at the age of 66. He was born to Benjamin and Loretta (Wyer) Kornbluth on November 1,1958 in Long Beach, California.
When it came to music, David was a natural – from keyboard and wind instruments to percussion and guitar -- music flowed from him with ease. So, when he attended Thousand Oaks High School, David and his fellow band mates were thrilled to receive the honor of getting to go to Europe to perform.
David attended USC and CSUN and remained a lifelong student. David was a chemist by profession and a scientist at heart. He was endlessly curious about the world around him and spent a good bit of time employed by Baxter Pharmaceutical, Hexcel Corp. and Potlatch Corporation. He had a deep passion for science and science fiction and was always eager to dive into big questions. He loved electronics and technology and often tore things apart so he could put them back together again. He loved movies and Halloween and spent time with his parents discussing numerous topics each week on their back patio in the evenings.
David was always captivated by nature and enjoyed camping and hiking, and had very fond memories of Europe, Costa Rica, Lake Tahoe, the Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Malibu, and local visits to Newbury Park and nearby Wildwood. He and his mother always shared a love for gardening and cooking and often had competitions to see who made the best spaghetti and meatballs. And they were actually preparing to plant a brand-new vegetable garden. David and his dad shared a love of computers, technology, electronics and engineering, so they always had that in common. David was quite helpful and handy and had just put some additional safety plans in place.
David is survived by his parents, his nephew Brandon Malina and his wife Rosa and their children: Byron and Lily of Porter Ranch; his sister-in-law Shelby Kornbluth and her children: Max and Haley of Massachusetts, along with a number of treasured aunts, uncles and cousins in West Virginia and Delaware.
