Michael W. "Barney" Barnett

Michael W. "Barney" Barnett Sr. 70, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 4, 2025, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Ann Marie (McCormick) Barnett with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in Danvers on February 9, 1955, he was the son of the late Donald "Jeff" and Theresa (Valcour) Barnett. Barney was a lifelong Danvers resident and graduated from Danvers High School. Barney had a long and successful career as a carpenter. He owned Barnett & Sons Construction. Barney worked incredibly hard for his family, including building a beautiful home and not one but two pools over the years. He was an avid hockey and football fan. He coached sports for his children growing up. He loved his family dearly and cherished spending time with them, especially spending precious moments with his grandchildren. He enjoyed cooking and live music. His love of cooking and live music was shared with his family and friends at "Barney Bash." Hosted by him and his wife for many summers.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by four children, Michael Barnett Jr. and his wife Breehan of Gorham, Maine, Mark Barnett of Danvers, Matthew Barnett and his wife Kate of Georgetown, and Amanda Collier and her husband Sean of North Reading, his beloved grandchildren, Otto, Olin, Mason, Eloise, Wyatt, Mack, and Luke, his siblings, Donna Laskosky of Michigan, Chuck Barnett of Pennsylvania, and Karen Madden of Danvers, many in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Donny Barnett.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 8th, from 3-6 PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm Street, Danvers. His funeral service will follow at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
