Michael Anthony Besche

On September 18, 2025, Michael "Mike" Anthony Besche, 78, of Southern MD, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones.

Mike was born in 1947 in Baltimore, MD, to Anthony and Virginia Besche.

After graduating from LaPlata High School in 1965 he went on to study Economics at Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in 1969.

Mike became the proud owner of Besche Oil Company after his father's passing. Under his leadership, the company flourished, becoming a staple in the community and earning a reputation for integrity and exceptional service. He also served on the Board of Directors for the College of Southern MD as well as the Charles County Chamber of Commerce, and was the director of several local banks. He was a philanthropist, generously donating to causes such as cancer research and tuition grants for students in need.

In his free time, he enjoyed fine wine, cooking, gardening, scuba diving, reading, biking, and traveling. In his younger years, he even had a small vineyard where he learned the process for wine production.

Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Besche. He was blessed with and is survived by three children: Anthony Besche of Glenwood, MD, Courtney Maloney of Waldorf, MD, and Sharon Besche of Powhatan, VA. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren: Cassidy White, Teagan Maloney, Jillian Besche, Camden Besche, Lochlan Maloney, and Vera Besche, along with his partner Karen Taylor, many friends and business associates.

On Thursday, September 25, 2025, the family will receive friends for the visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with the service beginning at 6:00 pm at Brinsfield Funeral Home & Crematory, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Interment will be held at a later date.
