Michael Blake Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2012.
Michael Blake was born on February 16, 1951 in the city of St. Louis, MO. He was the youngest of three sons born to the union of Douglas and Hattie (nee Bean) Blake. Both parents preceded him in death. Michael was baptized at Fairfax Baptist Church and grew up attending West Side Baptist Church. He was educated in the St. Louis Public School System and was a part of the Sumner High School Class of 1969. After high school Michael joined the Army and did two tours of duty. During his life, he pursued several careers including civil service with the Post Office, real estate and social work through the Salvation Army. Michael was united in holy matrimony to Norma Brown in 1974. From this union three sons survived. Their first child, a girl named Stacy, died shortly after birth. Michael was an avid reader. He loved to talk and was a great debater. He had an opinion and point of view on almost every subject. He especially enjoyed history, sports, politics, watching TV, going to the movies and listening to music. Michael also learned to repair and rebuild computers in his spare time. On Tuesday January 31, 2012, he departed this life at Grand Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in St. Louis, Missouri where he lost his battle to cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life; three sons; David, Jevon (Vi Vi) and Christopher (Candice) Blake; four grandchildren, Heaven, Jevon Jr., Caden and Camryn Blake; two brothers, Samuel (Rosalyn) and Joseph (Bertha) Blake; three nieces, Jacqueline, Crystal and Brittany Blake; three nephews, Theron Joseph (Angelique), Aaron (Tanisha) and Douglas (Victoria) Blake; and a host of other relatives and friends.
