Michael James Bledsoe, age 68, of Odessa, Texas, passed away surrounded by his loved ones peacefully on May 30, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas.
Michael was born on March 29, 1957, in Dallas, Texas, to Aquilla and Geneva Bledsoe. He grew up in El Paso and graduated from Andress High School. He later established a career in HVAC, where he became known as a dependable and skilled professional.
On October 23, 1982, Michael married the love of his life, Deborah Bledsoe. Together, they raised four children: Sherricka, Michael Jr., LaTayshia, and Jalen. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Michael was deeply rooted in faith and family. His strength and resilience to keep going was prevalent even though he was diagnosed with stage 4 Leukemia over 10 years ago. He loved spreading the gospel, fishing, barbecuing, and spending time with those he loved most. He was known for his warm spirit, great sense of humor, and ability to fix just about anything—a true jack of all trades.
Michael is survived by his wife, Deborah Bledsoe; his children: Sherricka Bledsoe (Penny Bledsoe), Michael Bledsoe Jr.(Adrienn Bledsoe), LaTayshia Bledsoe, and Jalen Bledsoe; and his cherished grandchildren: Keyonta Johnson, Haiden Bledsoe, Michaela Bledsoe, Adelynn Bledsoe, Jeffery “JC” Chatman Jr., Julius Chatman, Jalee Chatman, and Josiah Chatman. And soon to be great grandchild: Amir Ibrahima Minthe-Johnson. He also leaves behind his siblings: Vincent Bledsoe, Ervin Bledsoe, Barbara Adams, Wanda Wenzel, and Leticia Bledsoe; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Aquilla and Geneva Bledsoe; his sister, Cecelia Bledsoe; and his brother, Willie Ray Bledsoe.
Michael’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure. He was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
