Patricia Bledsoe Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Homes - Lexington on Mar. 4, 2026.
Patricia Ann Bledsoe, age 78, of Lexington, SC, passed away on March 1, 2026. She was born on October 6, 1947, in Columbia, SC to Albert and Lucille Blizzard. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, 4 sisters and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was a proud graduate of Olympia High School, class of 1966. She participated in many class reunions, and attended dinners with her remaining classmates. They all loved each other dearly, and had a close bond.

Patricia taught Sunday School for 58 years beginning at Rosewood Baptist Church, Alpine Baptist Church and finally at Gantt Street Baptist Church where she was a current member. Many children were influenced by her, and have stated that they came to know Christ because of her impact on their life. She was also known as a great prayer warrior who had a reputation for praying for many girls in the church who longed for a baby. Many babies in her church are a result of her prayers.

She loved her children, grandchildren and "eternal love" of 55 years, Benjy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and attending any activity they were involved in. She was named the Matriarch of her family as many nieces, nephews and cousins adored her.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Benjy, her children Brian (April) of Blythewood, Keith (Heather) of Blythewood, and Mandy (John) of Lexington, as well as her grandchildren David, Ben, Greg, Brayden, Brooklyn, John Micheal, Britley, Alana and Brax. She also leaves behind a family of sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Her family will miss her greatly, but take peace in knowing we will see her again, and what a day that will be.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Prisma Health Richland Neuro ICU for caring for her so compassionately. Special thanks to Dr. Price, James, PA and Emily, RN. You all were such a blessing to us in such a difficult time. You made a difference. Thank you.

Dearest family and all who knew her, It is with sadness that I read about Patricia's passing from her earthly life, but I do know she's in the arms of Jesus now and will be forever. It was a happy moment when I reconnected with the family, as well as other relatives, thru her and Benji. I had discovered they were cousins! I had learned there were family I didn't know much about and so it was a true Godsend! What a Godly example she was, and seeing the family at Gantt St when I visited was a treat. May God bless you all and give you His peace that passes understanding!
