Michael Bobby Obituary
While at Lockhaven University, Michael played goalkeeper on the 1980 championship soccer team that was later inducted to the Lockhaven Athletic Hall of Fame. He also played professional soccer with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
Throughout his teaching career, Michael coached nearly every sport, was Athletic Director for several years, and was named Teacher of the Year twice. He also founded and ran the Mike Bobby Soccer School, training young soccer goalkeepers.
Anyone who knew Michael knew that he could never sit still for very long. Whether he was doing yard work around the house, painting a room or wall, or exercising, he always kept busy. Michael enjoyed fishing, golfing, paddle boarding, and kayaking. His two grandsons kept him on his toes and always moving, and he wouldn't have had it any other way.
Michael touched many lives in his short 62 years. Many benefited from his love, kindness, encouragement, generosity, and friendship. Words cannot describe how much he will be missed.
Michael is survived by his wife Lauren, father Walter, brother Walt (Sharon) stepchildren Jennifer Thornton (John) and Melissa Lefebvre-Einloth (Andrew), and cherished grandchildren Jack and Charlie Thornton.
Michael is predeceased by his mother Audrey and brother Wayne.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Wm. A. Bradley & Son Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Chatham, NJ. There will be a Celebration of Life held in Florida at a later date.

What an amazing person, Mike Bobby was. He brought joy wherever he went and had a heart of gold. He showed us how to live life to the fullest. Mr. Bobby, you raised a wonderful son. My condolences to you and all the family.

Mike and I met at Lock Haven Orientation 1978. We ended up rooming together our freshman year. He was a great athlete, but also a great friend. Big Rocky Fan.

Dear Bobby Family,
My heart is heavy. I´m heart broken. Coach Bobby, a wonderful colleague , a true gentleman, hardworking and admired by students and staff.
He was a selfless person. Always caring about others to the point of saving the life of one of his students. A genuine hero.
Mike was an awesome chaperone. We would joke about retiring to St. Augustine every time he´d volunteered to come along on the Spanish field trips.
Mike and I worked together at Coral Springs Middle before transferring to Westglades Middle. Always a pleasure to have him around. Mike was like the energizer bunny; always on the go. He never changed.
Mr. Bobby, you raised a wonderful man. You should feel so proud.
His light will shine forever.

Michael was a joy to watch play goalie. On November 24th 1978, as a freshman, in pouring rain and mud, terrible conditions, he (and the team) kept a clean sheet against Cortland State, putting us into the NCAA final. I'll never forget his performance that day. I held him in high regard both as an athlete and, more importantly, as person. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Mike and I attended and graduated from Lock Haven University in the same class of 1983. I, also being a soccer goalkeeper from New Jersey, planned on walking-on my freshman year. Than i saw Mike and realized i was out of my league..LOL! We became friends over our four years together...took several classes together. He was such a great guy and always made me smile. Rest in heavenly peace Mike.

My name is Sue Peet and I had the absolute pleasure to teach and coach soccer at Coconut Creek HS with Mike in the 1980´s. He was a wonderful person to work with! We shared soccer stories, a few jogs, and some good laughs. I was honored when he ask me to coach the boys team once when he was unable to make the game. I am so sorry for your families loss and wishes you peace and comfort always.
