VERNA MAE BOBBY, age 67 of Janesville, died at her home on the morning of Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
Verna was born in route to the hospital in Ponsford, Minnesota on November 30, 1958 to Susan Margaret Fineday. She was one of twelve children. Verna and one of her sisters were removed from their home and put up for adoption at an early age. After living in various foster homes, they were both adopted by the Bill Loge family in Burnsville. The Loge family had a hobby farm with horses, and Verna grew to love grooming and training them. She graduated from Lakeville High School where she excelled on the softball team. Her passion for the game continued well into her 50’s. On June 18, 1983, Verna was married to Dale Raymond Bobby in Albert Lea, and together they raised two boys. Verna’s working years included Walters Cookbooks in Waseca and Birds Eye Foods in Waseca although she was a homemaker for most of her life. Her family remembers her cooking and her constant work around her home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.
Verna is survived by her husband of 42 years, Dale Bobby of Janesville; two sons, Jason (Krista) Bobby of Mankato, and Joshua Bobby of Sauk Rapids; three grandchildren, Trevon Bobby, Maizen (Jordan) Bobby, and Aubrey Bobby; and siblings Sue Stommes of LeRoy and Pat Fineday of MN. She was preceded in death by her mother; two brothers; and one sister.
Verna’s family will host a celebration of her life in the summer of 2026. More specifics will be determined at a later date. Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Janesville is caring for the Bobby family.
