Boy, did I hate running cross country; but I loved being on Mr. B´s team. He had a larger influence on me as a coach and teacher than he ever knew. Wish I had let him know that.
30 years after NCHS, I finally discovered the joy in running, and would recall Mike´s training as I completed my first marathon.
Pictured here is his Fall `78 squad.

Mike and I were classmates at Norfolk Catholic High School. We, along with other friends shared some good times together. Lost touch and only saw him a few times over the years. Those memories of our younger days where happy ones.

I have known Mike for many years. He was in the Tidewater Striders running club. He also was a customer at my garage. I will miss him.

He was my government teacher and we had many spirited conversations and debates. He was a great man who challenged and helped shape his students to be better individuals. God bless him and his family

Mr. B was my Cross Country & Track Coach, teacher & homeroom advisor. He was a great guy so supportive of all his students and athletes. I was not a fast runner like my brothers but he cheered me on and encouraged me as if I was. I would see him at strider events and he was always supportive to the runners. He came to my parents funerals and I saw him at another teammate´s parent´s funeral, he was that kind of a man, good, kind. Mr. B. you made a difference in so many lives in your quiet, generous manner. God bless you & your loved ones. Enjoy your time in Heaven, you have finished your race, you have kept the Faith.

Mr. B was my homeroom teacher and track coach at Norfolk Catholic. I just adored him, we all did. He was such a great guy, I'm sorry I lost touch with him. God bless his family in this time of sorrow.
