Michael Boven Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jansen Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Oct. 11, 2023.
Michael J. Boven, affectionately known as "Mike" or "Mr. B," was born on July 11, 1940, in Flint, MI, and passed away peacefully on October 10, 2023, at home with his loving wife and daughters by his side. Known for his loving, faith-filled, and generous spirit, Mike's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family, his passion for life, and his dedication to his community.
Mike was a devoted family man, survived by his loving wife Jackie, his daughters Alisha (Luke) Johnson, and Tommie (Rob) Stone, as well as his sister Cherry (Bill) Stroup. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one. Mike's life was also enriched by his beloved dogs, Pepper and Rocky, and he was a cherished figure to his many cousins, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry & Veronica (Griffin) Boven, his sons Patrick, Terrence, and Kerry, his brother Pat, and his sisters Mary Jo and Gail.
On February 14, 1987, Mike married his loving wife, Jackie Sharrow, in Lakeland, Florida. Their partnership extended beyond their personal lives, as they jointly owned and operated Jack & Mikes Auto Sales for over 20 years. Their business was not just a source of livelihood but also a platform for Mike to engage with the community he loved.
Mike was an active member of the Golden Gloves Boxing Club, where he not only honed his physical strength but also built lifelong friendships. His work ethic, honed in the boxing ring, was evident in the success of his business and his commitment to his family.
Beyond his family and work, Mike had a zest for life that was infectious. He had a deep love for all things boating, music, and classic cars. His passion for waterskiing was only rivaled by his love for Harley Davidson motorcycles. These interests were not mere hobbies for Mike; they were an extension of his vibrant personality and his love for adventure.
In his lifetime, Mike was a beacon of love and generosity. His faith was not just a personal belief but a guiding principle that influenced every aspect of his life. He was a man who believed in giving more than he received, and this was evident in his relationships with his family, friends, and the wider community.
In remembering Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, faith, and generosity. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of his life. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Mikes Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Mike. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
