Obituary of Michael J. Bowllan
Michael J. Bowllan passed away peacefully on Jan 22, 2025, in Rochester, NY at the age of 60. Michael was an accomplished jazz pianist; talented local artist; witty, creative and sensitive. However, for those who knew him, perhaps his most notable quality was that he was one of the kindest souls you would ever meet. This was even more impressive given his lifelong struggle with schizophrenia and later with metastatic lung cancer which he developed at age 48. Despite his many challenges, he accepted each hurdle with grace, strength, courage and without complaint.
The world is a better place for having had this wonderful person as a part of it for his 60 short years. He will be so missed by those of us who loved him. Rest in peace dear Michael. More than anyone, you have earned it.
Mike was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Bowllan, and special long time friend Jan Karwecki. He is survived by his siblings Tom Bowllan, Mark Bowllan (Amy), Nance Fiedler (Dave), Dave Bowllan (Cheri), Kitt Bowllan, Dan Bowllan and Paul (Deb) Bowllan, many nieces and nephews, and by his extended family at the DePaul West Main TAP program who tirelessly watched over him and cared for him 24/7.
