Michael J. Box, 61, of Burlington, died Friday, December 10, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born April 7, 1960, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward J and Sally Rae Lewis Box. On September 11, 1993, he married Marilyn M. Stout-Lindquist at First Presbyterian Church. After Marilyn converted to Catholicism, they were married once again at St. John's Catholic Church in Burlington.
Michael graduated from Notre Dame High School.
He was a member of Divine Mercy Parish and belonged to Sons of AMVETS. Michael loved fishing, Sudoku puzzles, avid Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeye (basketball and football) fan, reading the sports page and listening to rock music.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn M. Box; his father, Edward J Box; two sons, Michael Box II of Mount Pleasant, and Zachary Box Burlington; four daughters, Samantha Ferch and Natalie Box, both of Mt. Pleasant, Kristin Naifeh of Indian Trail,NC, Heather Lindquist of Moville, IA; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Mark E. Box of Ft. Collins, CO; one sister, Mindy K (Glenn) Spiker of Burlington; maternal aunt and paternal aunts and uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one daughter, Jennifer Sue Box; one grandchild, Christopher Jacob Odie Box; one sister, Michele Rae Box; and one nephew, Joshua Hensley.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The Memorial Mass of the Resurrection for Mr. Box will be 10:30 AM Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Divine Mercy Parish-St. Paul's Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz as the Celebrant. A time of food and fellowship will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church following the service. Inurnment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for Sons of AMVETS and the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
