Michael Bracken Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd. on Dec. 19, 2025.
Michael "Mike" James Bracken, Sr., of Natrona Heights, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. Born on April 20, 1953, he was the son of the late James Bracken and Joy Jardine.

Mike was married to his beloved wife, Frances "Frankie" Bracken for 47 years. Their marriage was built on love, loyalty, and devotion to family. Frankie predeceased him in 2018, and Mike carried her memory with him for the remainder of his life.

He was the proud father of two children, the late Michael Bracken, Jr., and his daughter Nicki Sayles (Brett). Mike was a deeply loving Pap to his grandchildren-Britney Monaghan (Alex) and her sons Charlie and Theo, as well as Alexis, Jordan, and Piper Sayles-who were the joy and light of his life. After retiring early due to health issues, he found new purpose in helping raise his grandchildren, taking them on adventures big and small, teaching them curiosity, humor, and kindness along the way.

Music was another great love in Mike's life. A self-taught musician, he could play nearly any instrument with strings and had a natural gift for rhythm and melody. He loved signing and playing bluegrass music, often bringing joy to others with his heartfelt performances. Whether on stage or sitting on the porch with a guitar in hand, Mike's music filled every space with warmth and laughter.

Mike is survived by his siblings Jim Bracken, David Bracken, and Teresa Krizan, and was preceded in death by his brother Duane Bracken. He also leaves behind his loving Aunt Bobbie Lynch (Pat), many nieces, nephews, and his faithful cat Carter, who brought him companionship and comfort.

Known for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need, Mike had a heart that never stopped giving. His legacy is one of love, humor, skill, and steadfast loyalty to family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Mike's memory by helping someone who needs it - just as he always did.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home, Blawnox, PA. In accordance with Mike's wishes, services will remain private.
