Michael Newton Brooks

Michael Newton Brooks, 54, was called home by his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 21, 2024.
Born on March 1, 1970, in Greenville, SC, he was the son of Shirley "Annette" Brooks and of the late William "Bill" Brooks.
Michael could often be found watching sports and especially enjoyed rooting for his beloved Atlanta Braves. He had a passion for first responders, which was evident through the smile on his face at the sight of a passing firetruck and the enthusiasm he expressed during the many hours he spent watching the television show "Cops." Michael also always looked forward to the days he was able to go on fishing trips with his cousins.
With an infectious spirit, Michael lit up every room he entered and touched the lives of all who crossed his path. He will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley "Annette" Brooks, with whom he shared a special bond that formed the foundation of his life; brother, David W. Brooks and his wife, Stacey; niece, Kimberlin E. Brown; cousins, Jamie Aiken and James Michael Aiken; and aunt, Fran Sox.
In addition to his father, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin M. Brooks; and sister, Rhonda L. Brooks.
The visitation will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest followed by the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, West.
As we gather to honor and celebrate Michael's life, let us remember the invaluable lessons Michael imparted – that joy can be found in the simplest moments, that laughter is a gift to be shared, and that life is meant to be embraced.
