It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Copely Brown, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Michael passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24th, 2025, at the age of 37.

Michael was born and raised in Oklahoma City, where he attended St. Charles Borromeo and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School. With a personality that could light up any room, his smile had the power to warm the coldest of hearts, and his infectious laugh was a constant source of joy to all who knew him.

A lifelong sports fan, Michael passionately followed his beloved Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Chiefs, and Oklahoma City Thunder, never missing a game. Watching games with him was a unique experience — complete silence was required, which is why he especially cherished watching games with his father.

Michael had an eclectic taste in music, appreciating all genres and always discovering the perfect song for any moment. His love for the Grateful Dead, in particular, was a constant throughout his life, and he even named his dog Althea after one of their songs.

He was known for his ability to carry on conversations entirely through movie quotes, and for his loud, boisterous spirit that filled every room. Michael’s sweet tooth was legendary; he would often purchase large bags of candy with his nieces and nephews, knowing they'd gladly share with him in return. A trip to Braum’s to get the biggest Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup shake was a favorite pastime.

A passionate volunteer, Michael spent time at Citizens Caring for Children, a cause close to his heart. He was immensely proud of his journey in recovery, finding strength in AA and the unwavering support of his family. His life had transformed, and he spoke often about how much he valued his family time and his faith. He was a shining example to others in the rooms of AA, having built a strong and supportive community.

Michael was a loyal and compassionate soul who always put the needs of others before his own. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Michael is survived by his grandmother, Gay Orczy-Barstow; his parents, Sara and Steven Brown; his sisters, Vanessa Smith, Carolyn Cirone, and Elizabeth Skiles; his brothers-in-law, Shane Smith, Frank Cirone, and Dalton Skiles; his nieces and nephews, Evelynn Smith, Juliet Cirone, Everett Smith, Eleanor Smith, Florence Cirone, Francis Cirone, and Henry Cirone, and his fur baby, Althea.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Eugene on Friday, March 7th, at 10:00 a.m. Immediately after the Mass, a brief committal service will be held at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Mike's Life at Quail Creek Golf and Country Club to which all are invited to come.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider a donation to The May Club or Citizens Caring for Children, causes Michael held dear.
