Funeral for Michael Wayne Buttram, 53, of Trinity will be today at 3:30 p.m. at Caddo Congregational Church. Burial will be in Caddo Cemetery with Parkway Funeral Home directing.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Michael was born January 5, 1958, to John and Betty Buttram. He retired from Delphi after 28 years and began working for the city of Hartselle for the past 4 years. He passed away January 7, 2011, at Decatur General Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father. He enjoyed time outdoors and liked to spend time with his children, grandchildren and dogs. His quick humor brought numerous smiles to the faces of those he really loved. He liked football, especially Alabama football.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Lisa Shelton Buttram; children, Leslie Buttram Gillespie (Stacey), Paul Buttram and Cayla Buttram; grandchildren, Eryn, Bryant and Kynlee Gillespie; his mother, Betty Buttram and sister, Liz Buttram Reed.
Pallbearers will be Wesley Hembree, Jake Standridge, Tyler Stephenson, Keith Cheatham, Ken Shelton and Kyle Shelton Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be brothers-in-law and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Caddo cemetery fund.

Anyone who had carried the name Michael Buttram and lives through it to still be remembered as such a great guy by so many must truly have been. Michael Buttram, I will remember this Obituary, and make sure I carry this name just as noble as you. Rest in peace sir.

Dear Lisa, I'm not sure if you remember me but I am the daughter of Rodger and Patsy Gillespie Oliver. I remember Mike from my childhood and he was such a nice man. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. We miss Mike so very much. I am so thankful for the wonderful example that he has been for our children. They had great respect for him and always felt he was an extended part of our family (the way we feel all of you are). You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Lisa, I can't tell you how saddened I was to hear about Mike's passing. I will always remember Mike as one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever known. Mike and myself, I am proud to say, were friends for 25 years. I loved him like a brother and always cherished the time we worked together. Mike could be funny but he also had a serious side. He and I had many conversations that were fun and serious. He loved his family with all his heart and worked hard to provide for them. Lisa, you and the kids will be in my prayers and thoughts.
