Michael Lee Callen, 67 of Tucson, AZ, passed away March 25, 2024. Son of Elmer Leo Callen and Margaret Louise (Smith) Callen, he was born on December 5, 1956 in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. Mike grew up in Sun Mine, a small rural town in western Pennsylvania. Mike was the oldest of three children and enjoyed having his many aunts and uncles at gatherings where, while they were playing music and singing, many childhood friends and cousins played together.
Mike and his family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1968 where he graduated from Palo Verde High School in 1974. He continued on to take classes at Pima Community College. Mike worked for NAPA Auto Parts, North American Van Lines, Contractors Rental Equipment Company (CRECO), and finally Argus Machine Shop until his retirement.
Mike served in the US Army Reserves as a Medical Specialist and X-Ray Tech Specialist at Williams Beaumont Army Medical Center, El Paso, TX and the 6251st US Army Hospital in Tucson, AZ from November 18, 1980 - August 6, 1986.
Mike had a passion for cars. He loved to attend the races and rebuild cars. He worked on and rebuilt several cars over the years.
Probably influenced from his childhood, Mike had a passion for music. He played in several country music and rock bands such as "Dirty Nelly" and "Mikey and The Maniacs." His musical passion led to him meeting and marrying his wife, Gina, on December 30, 2008.
Mike is survived by his spouse: Gina Callen, siblings: Donald Callen and Deborah Callen, children: Tom, Mary, Amanda, Allison, and Charlie, grandchildren: Hope, Tyler, Matthew, Jace, Zackery, Charlie, Luna, and Charlii, uncle: Donald Smith, and many cousins in Pennsylvania.
Preceded in death by his parents, eight uncles, two aunts, brother, Robert Thomas Callen, and daughter, Caroline Michelle Callen.
The date and time for the Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
