Michael J Carroll Jr. passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 56 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ. He was predeceased by his mother Theresa Carroll and is lovingly remembered by his father, Michael Carroll Sr., and his children: Michael Carroll III, David Vasseur, and Elizabeth Carroll Riel, along with her husband Allan Riel. Michael also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren-Landon and Adrian Vasseur, and Gabriel and Lyla Riel-who brought great joy to his life.
He is survived by his sisters, Kelly Cignarella and Heather Herbst, and their husbands Andrew Cignarella and Tom Herbst. His memory lives on through his nieces Emily Herbst, Megan Herbst, Sara Herbst, Rachel Cignarella, and his nephew Alex Cignarella.
Michael graduated from Toms River High School South in 1986 and then served in the United States Army for seven years, including five years in Panama, where he learned Spanish fluently and met his first wife, and the mother of his children Arelis Carroll. Upon returning from combat and completing his Associates Degree in Communications at Strayer University, Michael worked in Fairfax, Virginia, as a contractor for the U.S. Pentagon and MCI WorldCom. He later moved back to New Jersey, and where met Denise Guiffre, his best friend, camping partner and girlfriend. Michael's big heart was evident in his role working with Wawa collecting and distributing food for the homeless. He was a also member and Sargent at Arms at the Gulifird Park Yacht Club.
Michael was happiest when surrounded by friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or your local American Legion in Michael's name.
