Michael Cawthon Obituary
The family and many dear friends of Michael David Cawthon, born on June 4, 1965, in Atlanta GA are sad to announce that Mike has passed away at the age of 60 on January 1, 2026. He was surrounded by his family at his home in Cartersville GA with sunlight and music.
Michael's favorite parts of life will live on each time we are reminded of his strong work ethic; Michael spent 35 years building a career in transportation and was employed at Old Dominion freight lines- where he will be missed for his sense of humor and camaraderie he shared with coworkers and friends. He was a gifted strategist and took pride in his profession.
While not at work Michael always enjoyed an extensive collection of music. He enjoyed outdoor festivals and concerts with his family and sharing traditions and stories surrounding his music collections. He also loved a few favorite books throughout his youth into fatherhood.
As well as his music, you'd hear stories about his love for his family, sports, games, his 4 dogs, and his latest tech discovery or brand he found.
Michael loved sports and maintained a presence in many multi-decade communities and commitments.
Friendship was one of Michael's most cherished connections and spoke highly of his love for his dear lifelong friends as well as people he truly loved knowing that he'd met more recently. He felt cared for by his friends, and many people have considered him a brother.
Many of you know that Michael was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2024 and began a battle on all sides including 2 brain surgeries with radiation and chemotherapy. He fought hard until a stroke in November. His wife Stephanie accompanied him dutifully, to all transfers and appointments, and visited or stayed with him daily. Stephanie was Michael's treasure. She never left his side as she fulfilled his wishes and brought him home to rest.
Holding close those he preceded in passing; including: his beloved wife, Stephanie Cawthon. Other living family includes his daughters Courtney Cawthon and Addison Cawthon, as well as his bonus son, Andrew Moore.
Michael was also an uncle to three beautiful nieces: Jennifer Cawthon, Tiffany Noelle, and Amy Edmondson. He had three nephews who he loved, Zack Williams, Michael Mirolli, and Anthony Mirolli.
Michael will join in heaven both his parents, Henry David Cawthon and Mildred Wardlaw, as well as his sister Christine Noelle.
Michael Cawthon's celebration of life visitation with the family is at 1pm on Saturday January 10, 2026 with a service following at 2pm. Parnick Jennings Funeral Home in Cartersville GA.
We truly believe our lives are not for us but for the Lord and that Michael's life and testimony has brought forth a clarity and peace that only God can bring. We thank God for giving us abundant awareness of His presence and His plans throughout our lives during times of heartache just as much as joy. We know we will see Michael again and can already feel him with us. We praise Jesus for the gospel and that He tied Michael's path to ours. The Lord's plans are good.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that however believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
