Michael Patrick Chernesky, 60, of Owings Mills, MD, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at his home. Born on June 1, 1965, in Laurel, MD, he was the son of Madonna Marie Smith Chernesky, and the late Michael Eugene Chernesky.

Michael worked as a mathematician for the United States Federal Government. Prior to the Federal Government, he was a college mathematics professor at Augusta State University. He attended North Carolina State University and the University of Maryland earning Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees in mathematics. Michael loved sports, and he was an avid Orioles and Ravens fan. He will be remembered by his sense of humor, his generosity, and his keen intellect. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving in addition to his mother are children: Matthew Chernesky and wife Wingnay, and Julie Chernesky, granddaughter: Sequoia, sisters: Mary Cooley and husband Ken, and Catherine Chernesky, granddog: Rosie, and grandcat: Margot.

Funeral services will be held at Village Church Hampden: 3647 Roland Ave, Baltimore, MD 21211 on Saturday, September 27th at 2pm.
