Michael Wayne Chism, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on April 13, 1958, in Buford, West Virginia, Michael spent his formative years growing up in Carrollton, Texas, where he cultivated a spirit of adventure and a love for the outdoors that would shape much of his life.
Michael enjoyed a fulfilling career as a geotechnical engineer for Alliance Geotechnical, where he dedicated many years contributing to projects that underscored his commitment to his profession. His attention to detail and unwavering professionalism earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was passionate about a variety of pursuits. He found joy in camping trips and was never happier than when he was tinkering in his workshop, embracing his love for working on cars and undertaking new projects. These hobbies not only provided him with personal satisfaction but also allowed for cherished moments spent with his family.
Michael’s family meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife, Shirley "Susan" Chism, who stood by his side through life's journey. Together, they raised two sons: Cody Brazier and his wife, Nicole, of Wills Point, Texas, and Travis Chism and his wife, Brittani, of Mabank, Texas. Michael was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren: Tyler, Hayden, Koda, Avery, Bailey, Conlee, and Lottie, each of whom brought joy and pride to his life.
He is also survived by his brothers, Jim Chism, Robert Chism, and sister, Glenda Chism, as well as his uncle, John Chism, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will carry his memory forward.
