Michael Defoe Christian

Michael Defoe Christian, 63, Greenfield, formerly of Indianapolis and Tennessee, passed away on September 1, 2025. Mr. Christian was born on November 15, 1961, to the late Lawrence and Lois (Underwood) Christian.

Mike attended Thomas Carr Howe High School and proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. He was a lifetime member of the Church Hill, Tennessee VFW Post #9754. Once a Marine, always a Marine, Mike will be remembered for his hard work and strong will. He was employed through the years primarily as a machine operator at various places of employment including, Plumbers Supply, Heritage Environmental, Kroger, and most recently, Covanta.

Mike enjoyed tinkering in the garage and was quite handy. He could fix just about anything and was sometimes called MacGyver for at least his willingness to try. The family has fond memories of the summer lake house on Lake Schaefer where Mike enjoyed fishing, boating, being outdoors, and playing lawn games. Music also played a special part of his life while he could often be found listening to classic rock & roll. Mike will be fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.

Survivors include two daughters, Emily and Olivia Christian; half-sisters, Vicki (Jim) Hamilton and Cindy (Mike) Aurs; a large extended family including nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mike's Life Celebration® Visitation and Memorial Service will be held at the O'Riley – Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, 6107 South East Street, Indianapolis. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2025. A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Marine Corp and IMMHG.
