Michael Ciriello Obituary
Published by Legacy on Oct. 30, 2025.
Michael "Mickey" Ciriello passed away on October 29 after battling CJD for a year. Mickey was born May 5, 1947 to Nick & Rose Ciriello, joining sister Marie.
His life is celebrated, and death grieved, by the Love of his life Becky, his wife of 32 years and the entire Ciriello/ Holmes Families. His "Sis" Marie Keith & "friend in law" Jerry Pinto, Nephews Tony Ciriello & Terry Rose (Layla), Danny & (Kari) Holmes.
He also leaves his great nephews Nick, Ryder, Owen, Micah, Noah, Seth, and Kalel. His nieces Heather (Seth), Betsy (Craig) of Lee's Summit Missouri and Kayla of Texas. Great nieces Sylvie, Jamie and Emma. Dear and close cousin Cathy.
Mickeys brothers in law Tom Holmes (Akron) and Jerry (Eva) of Lees Summit, Mo. treated him like a brother- their love was pure and from the heart for Mickey. It was said that Mickey was the salt of the earth. His mother in law often said that he was like an old shoe....comfy...leave things alone- all is good. He also leaves his great-great nephews Luca and Caruso.
Mickey loved his Godson Todd Barger- he now wears uncle Mickey's 300 Bowling Ring with pride. Also dear friend ( and house builder!) Don Melnik, and his "adopted" grandson RJ Wilson who has referred to Mickey as Mr. C. since he started talking. RJ is like the son Mickey never had...always stopping by to help or just to say hello. Friends Kris Senn & Bob Price....... So many memories & stories....so many other friends, too numerous to mention. Mickey was a friend to all.
Mickey spent many hours bowling- his passion for years. He loved going to The Petersen Classics with bowling buddy and dear friend Dicky Barger. You could find Mickey on the Lanes at Colonial late in the evenings, working on his game. Mickey wasn't the worlds best traveler (but being a smart husband) followed Becky on many adventures she created for them. He often said he didn't know exactly where he was going but he knew it would be fun and adventurous! Oh, the places he went.....and loved it! Mickey and Becky spent many years on Sanibel Island where they made life long friends. They loved their golf...even if the ball went askew....which it did, often. They were members at The Dunes and The Sanctuary GC for many years and enjoyed many activities, parties and evenings with friends at the bocci court.
Other then family, Mickeys love was Luigi's, the restaurant his parents started in 1949 an thrives on....76 years later and Akron still waits in line for their "fix".....salads, pizza, meatballs...YUM!
After an honorable discharge from The US Army he knew his future was at Luigi's and he never looked back, always sharing the ownership with his Sis, Marie. Mickey never wanted the fame that ultimately came with the restaurant..he just wanted it to succeed. It worked! Keep it going, Tony.
There will be a light brunch service in FellowShip Hall at Oak Hill Church (2406 Ardwell Ave., Akron) on Tuesday, November 4 beginning at 10 AM to greet family.
A service in The Sanctuary (upstairs, in the church), will follow at approximately 11:30, officiated by Pastor Brian Nutt.
A personal note- thank you Mickey, for sharing your life with me. It was my honor to be your wife.
