David G. King, 69, of Akron, passed away on January 27, 2026. He was born on November 10, 1956 the son of the late Donald and Margaret King. He graduated from Springfield High School with the class of 1976. David retired from Atlas Vending with more than 20 years of dedicated service. He then continued to work at Big Lots in Fairlawn finding immense joy and fostering friendships with his co workers.
David was a man of many interests and deep compassion. He had a profound love for the theater. Riding horses was another passion of his; the serenity and freedom he found in this activity reflected his adventurous nature.
David’s selflessness extended far beyond his hobbies; he genuinely cared for others, always putting the needs of his friends and family before his own. He had an innate ability to make those around him feel valued and heard, a trait that endeared him to all who experienced his warmth and generosity. He may thought of himself as a pebble but he was a rock to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; loving husband of 27 years Daniel Hackett; and brother Donald Earl King Jr.
David is survived by daughters Abi King and Chelsey (Rob) King-Adams; grandchildren Todd King and Genesis Adams; sister Donna (Dan) Porter; nephew Daniel (Allie) Dalton; brothers Woody King, Steve King and Roger King; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
