Michael Cleary Obituary

Michael F. Cleary of Centennial, Colorado passed away due to complications of Alzheimer's on December 3, 2016 at the age of 70. Mike is survived by his wife Jeanne Remy Cleary. Mike is survived by his brother Joseph Cleary and sons Edward Cleary (Jeanne) and Robert Cleary (Shannon) and grandchildren Zachary, Ryan, Gabrielle and Ava of Connecticut and Jeanne's daughter Stephanie Stoetzer (Keith) and grandchildren Kendall and Lindsey of Denver, Colorado. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and (Julia) Sheila Cleary and sister Rita. Mike was born in Dublin, Ireland on January 1, 1946, first baby of the New Year. He grew up in Tullamore, Co Offaly along the banks of the Grand Canal. His family immigrated to the US when he was 12 years old. Mike was an accomplished drummer beginning in his high school years as well as becoming a talented vocalist. Mike continued with his musical endeavors throughout his life performing Rock n Roll, Barber Shop, Big Band and his beloved Irish music. For several years, Da Tinmen entertained audiences in the southeast Denver metro area. Mike also sang in the Contemporary Choir at Our Lady of Loreto Church in Aurora, Colorado. Mike enlisted and retired from the US Air Force after serving for 22 years as an air traffic controller. He was stationed in Vietnam, Germany, England, and various US bases. After his military retirement, Mike was employed by Jeppesen Sanderson Inc., first in Germany and then relocating to Colorado. He switched careers working for HCA/Supply Chain as education manager. Mike was also very involved in the Irish community in Denver. He was a member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians, The Emerald Society, and for several years, was on the committee for the annual Colorado Irish Festival and the St. Patrick's Day Parade. A Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at 3pm at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home in the HeartLight Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO 80014. Reception to follow. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Mike's memory.
