Michael Clutts Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Jul. 8, 2023.

Michael Owen Clutts, 75, Mooresville, passed away on July 6, 2023 shedding his earthly pain, his mind and body are whole again. Mike was born Jan 11, 1948, in Granite City IL, to the late Charles Carl Clutts and Katherine Marie (Nation) Clutts.  He married Charlena Kay (Calidonio) Clutts on Sept 12, 1970 and has joined the love of his life in heaven. After Kay’s death they were apart for almost seven years and it was a struggle for him, now they will be together to celebrate their 53rd  anniversary.

Mike was employed for many years at Scotty’s Mobile Homes and retired after having a shoulder injury. Setting up mobile homes is tough work, hot summers, harsh cold winters, and heavy lifting but Mike was never afraid of hard work. He was a very hard-worker and a determined provider for his family.

Mikes education was limited, but you would never know due to his multiple talents. He had a passion for helping people and he loved every minute of it while he was still in good health.

Mike wore many titles: son, brother, husband, dad, friend, and, perhaps his most well-known title “Uncle Mikey” by many. Mike loved to tease people, making people laugh, little kids loved him because he acted silly with them. He was the best dad while raising his daughter, rescuing a stray dog that became a loved family member, buying dirt bikes (that Kay wasn’t too happy about her daughter riding), then on to go carts, just anything fun that was bringing the family together made him smile. Like packing six people in a car and driving to Florida to give his family a Disney vacation and creating memories for everyone to cherish. Buying a very small camper and again packing many people in there, but the fun everyone had and the memories will never be forgotten.

He was known to be adventurous during his teenage years; just ask his sister Mary or his brother-in-law John. Both have plenty of stories to tell, Mike and John were also best friends since the age of nine. Mary still loved her brother even after him shooting her in the legs with a BB gun. To capture Mikes essence of a person is to highlight his kindness, and the love he had for his family and friends. He was also a fisherman and loved animals, even the cat nicked named “evil cat”.

Mike had family, friends, and neighbors to help him through some heartbreaking times. The last few years of Mike’s life were a struggle as the ugly grip of cancer took his wife away from him in 2016. His wife’s passing also took away his happiness, bright personality, and his zest for life.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris K Leibold (Bob), George Clutts, Sr, Junelda Grantham, and half-brother James Clutts.

Survivors include his daughter, Christina (Glenn) Morgan, Sister Mary (John) Vasques, Brother Tom Duke, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Carlisle - Branson Funeral Service & Crematory, with visitation starting at 11 a.m.  Burial will be at White Lick Cemetery.  Visit www.CarlisleBranson.com to share a favorite memory.
