Michael Wayne Cofflin, 64, of Lynchburg, VA, fought the good fight against Cancer. He was born on September 8, 1960, and died on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born an only child to Doris Pillow Cofflin and Melvin “Red” Cofflin.
Mike’s early years were filled with the one thing that he enjoyed throughout his life, Bowling. When he was 7 years old, he began bowling at the Plaza Bowl and met many friends that he still counted as the greatest friends of his lifetime. It was there that he learned the comradery with these guys who were like brothers. It was with these brothers that he was honored to be inducted into the Lynchburg Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2017.
Mike took over his dad’s business, Red’s Chips and Confectionary upon his dad’s death and worked it every day of his life until very recently. After the death of his dad, Mike also took incredible care of his mom until her dying day.
He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his aunt, Peggy Floyd of Madison Heights as well as his many friends.
A memorial service to honor Mike’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Pastor Mike Dodson, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Timberlake Baptist Church or Tree of Life Ministries.
