Michael Colantone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home - Oak Lawn on Jan. 21, 2026.
In loving memory of Michael A. Colantone. With deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Michael A. Colantone, who peacefully left this world on January 19, 2026 surrounded by family.

A devoted and loving husband for 68 years to his beloved late wife, Marcella, he built a life rooted in commitment, faith, and unwavering love. Their marriage was a true testament to partnership, loyalty, and enduring devotion.

He was a dependable and deeply caring man, always there for anyone in need. He gave selflessly to those he loved and never hesitated to offer his time, wisdom, or helping hands. As a father, he led with quiet strength, guidance, and unconditional support.

To his grandchildren, he was proudly known as Papa and Great Grandpapa, roles he embraced with joy, patience, and pride. He was a mentor to all-teaching not only through words, but through example.

He wore many hats throughout his life: a sales executive, Little League coach, band tour chaperone, DJ roadie, dance dad, loan specialist, and even the family's own private realtor. A practical joker with a warm sense of humor, he was a jack of all trades, yet masterful in the ways that mattered most-showing up, lending support, and loving fully.

Known for his dedication to family, strong work ethic, and kind heart, Michael lived a life defined by faith, service, integrity, and generosity. His warmth, stories, laughter, and steady presence created memories that will be treasured forever.

He is survived by his five children: Michael (Allison), Mark, Dave (Pam), Daniel (Deneane), and Lisa (James) Short. He was a proud grandfather to fourteen grandchildren: Paul, Amanda (Nick), Breanna (Sam), Lauren, Steven, Andrew, DJ, Madison, Piper, Molly, Sarah, Angel Christina, Macy, and Sadie. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Dakota.

He is further survived by his extended family, all of whom will carry his legacy forward through the values he instilled and the love he so freely gave. Though deeply missed, his life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love everlasting.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, January 25th from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Thompson and Kuenster Funeral Home. Funeral Monday, January 26th, 9:15 am from Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home to St. Gerald Church for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.

Family and friends are welcome to attend and share memories.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Lightways Hospice Care or the Alzheimer's Association, both causes close to our hearts.
