Beloved husband of Jane nee McHugh for 47 years.

Loving father of Peter (Brian Casey) Gizyn & Matt (Lauren) Gizyn.

Cherished grandpa of Evan Gizyn & Carolyn Gizyn.

Devoted brother of Louie Gizyn.

Greg was truly a unique individual. He had a creative, resourceful mind, which was evident in his imaginative photography and the many bookshelves, chairs, tables, clocks, that he designed and created. He could also fix anything that need fixing!

A lifelong Southsider, Greg served as an altar boy at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. He attended Quigley South, Bogan High School and Bradley University.

Greg loved people. He treated everyone he met with the same spirit of generosity and respect, regardless of their social/economic status or ethnicity. There was never any false pride or pretense in his character.

He was proud of his Polish, Austrian and Serbian roots. He loved and was devoted to his family, his extended family, his friends, his care givers, co-workers, and neighbors.

Greg was the genuine article.

We will miss him.

Resting at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn where Services will take place Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 10:30 am.

Inurnment private.

Visitation Wednesday, January 28, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
