Phyllis Vitello Obituary

Phyllis Marie Vitello, known affectionately to many of us as Phyzz or Phyzzie, died in her home in Prescott Valley, AZ, on November 24, 2025. She was 74, only a month shy of her 75th birthday, at the time of her passing.

Phyllis was born and raised in Chicago, IL, on the southwest side of the city. She attended Owen elementary school and graduated from Bogan high school.

After graduating from high school, Phyllis trained in cosmetology, and became an accomplished cosmetologist. Later in life, Phyllis trained in medical transcription, and became a professional medical transcriber, a profession that she enjoyed and retired from some years after moving to Arizona.

Shortly after graduating from high school, Phyllis married her high school sweetheart, Frank Fasko. The marriage dissolved a few years later, perhaps the result of youthful exuberance. Her romance with Frank rekindled again in the early 1990’s, and they were married again for the second time. Sadly, this marriage ended in dissolution around 2005.

During Phyllis’ life, she was able to travel the country and lived in several different states, among them: Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, California, and her final domicile and resting place, Arizona.

Phyllis loved her cats, and owned several during her life. Her most recent cat, Bear, was the love of her life, and survives her death. Bear was placed in a loving home near Phyllis’ residence in Prescott Valley.

Phyllis is survived by her two brothers and their wives, Phil and Renee Vitello, and John and Brenda Vitello. She is also survived by her nephews and nieces, Mark Vitello, Michelle Hirn, Tony Schumacher, Debbie Falestra, Josh Vitello, Jesse Vitello, Cody Vitello, and their spouses, along with many many grand nephews and nieces.

Phyllis is preceded in her death by her parents Joseph and Frances Vitello, her brothers Tom, Joe, and Don, and her ex-husband Frank.

Phyllis was loved by many, and her memory will carry on in her surviving family, and in her many friends.

A memorial or celebration of life is to be determined later.
