Michael Colin Steele Hoyes, affectionately known as Mike, passed from this life into the next on August 19, 2025, in Federal Way, Washington, at the age of 80. Born on July 7, 1945, in Kingston, Jamaica, Mike's journey through life was marked by dedication, humor, and love.
Mike's formative years were spent in Kingston, Jamaican and later at Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio. He honorably served for four years in the Air Force. He then embarked on a career in sales, where his personable nature and professionalism were his hallmark.
A beacon of familial devotion, Mike was a beloved father and grandfather, cherishing every moment with his daughter and granddaughter. His daily walks near Redondo Beach and his love for solving the daily crossword puzzle were simple pleasures that reflected his appreciation for life's serene moments. His wit was as sharp as his intellect, and his laughter was a testament to his joyful spirit.
Mike's memory will be treasured by his daughter Nicole Hoyes Wilson, granddaughter Chloe Wilson, son-in-law Tim Wilson, brothers Derrick and Richard Hoyes, as well as his niece and nephews, April and Dustin Hoyes. He steps into eternity preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Joyce Hoyes.
