Michael Edward Colligan of Somerset, NJ, passed away on Monday, September 4th at home. He was 85 years old.
Born and raised in New Brunswick, he has lived in Somerset since 1959.
He had a long career in the trucking industry for the Middlesex Transport Company and Consolidated Freightways. He was a proud member of the Teamsters Union, serving as shop steward and union representative.
Michael enjoyed playing golf, tennis, and football, as he was a natural athlete who excelled at every sport he played. While attending New Brunswick High School, he was an All-State and All-County football player, and was captain of both the football and track teams. He was an avid NY Giants football fan, and fan of all Rutgers University sports. Michael enjoyed listening to country and western music and spending time with his friends; but above all, he loved spending time with his wife and high school sweetheart, Millie, and six grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his daughter, Moira Colligan; and parents John & Julianna Colligan.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Millie; daughters and sons-in-law, Bridget & Michael Kosinski and Michelle & Bert Kosinski, all of Howell; brother, John D. Colligan Jr. (Rose) of East Brunswick; sister, Dr. Judithann C. Keefe (Tom) of Spring Lake; grandchildren, Ryan (Cameron), Matthew (Francesca), Michael Edward (Jennifer), Timothy (Devon), Kimberly (Adam) and John Colligan Kosinski; and great-grandchild, Nico. Michael is also survived by his dear friend and caregiver Maribel Restrepo, and his cat, Oscar.
Private cremation services have been handled under the professional direction of the Gleason Funeral Home, Somerset. A Memorial Mass will be announced at a future date and time.
