Michael Robert Collins, 41, of Indianapolis, passed away August 19, 2024. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Gerald Robert "Rob" Collins and the late Janet Sue Jump Collins on August 31, 1982. Michael earned two Bachelor of Science degrees, the first from Butler University in computer science, and the second from Purdue University in electrical engineering. He worked as a Software/ Firmware Engineer for Beckman Coulter, where he has been employed since 2004, focusing on biomedical technology.
In addition to his academic and work accomplishments, Michael was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed attending sporting events and dance recitals for his children, participating in scouting activities, and going on family vacations. He was also an avid gamer and comic book fan, sharing that love with his friends and family. He spent his spare time collecting and working on video game consoles. He was looking forward to establishing his own gaming console repair company, Enforcer Games. He was also musically talented, playing multiple instruments, and having a lovely singing voice. He shared his love of music with his wife and children. In addition to his role as husband and father, he was a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend. He will be remembered for his generous heart and quirky sense of humor.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine Colden; children, Katherine Murray Collins, Andrew Robert Collins, William James Collins, and Lillian Marie Collins; his father, Rob Collins; his sister, Lyndsey Spain and her daughter, Madison Colbie Spain; paternal grandmother, Patricia Lee Stanfield; and maternal grandmother, Olwen Beulah Jump; parents-in-law, Katie and Dac Colden; sister-in-law, Rachael (Thomas) Colden Bolsega and their children, Gavin, Noah, and Colin Bolsega; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Collins; and daughter, Ava Grace Collins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 27th at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 11411 North Michigan Road, at 3 PM. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1 PM until the time of the service. A gathering meal will be offered for family and friends at St. Monica's Catholic Church, 6131 North Michigan Road, following the services.
