Michael George Comrie

Michael George Comrie, 70, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 7th, 2024. Mike was born on July 26, 1953 to Leo and Doris (Smith) Comrie. He grew up in Wayland, MI and later lived in Kalamazoo before moving to Rapid City.
Never at a shortage of words, Mike was always ready to engage with people he'd meet and make quick friends with them. He enjoyed regaling anyone who would listen, and even those who would not, with tales of the tennis conquests of his youth and pickleball feats of more recent years. He was also known to share scene by scene recaps of his favorite movies.
His enjoyment of music and literature began when he was young. A love of rock and roll blossomed with the arrival of the Beatles and he took pride in his extensive music collection, primarily of 60's and 70's classics. Along with being an avid reader of all types of genres, he had a passion for history and sharing the wealth of knowledge he'd acquired in a good game of trivia.
He found pleasure on the open road, traveling across the country visiting National Parks and any family that might be on the way. It could be said that he loved an afternoon cruise around northern Michigan in his 1966 Chrysler, affectionately named Walter, even more.
Most of all, Mike loved tinkering in his garage and around the yard making little adjustments and improvements in preparation for the next visit from his family. He'd greet them with a big hug, a warm smile, and a fridge full of beer. He'd invite them to sit on the back porch or around the fire pit for an evening of chatting and laughter.
He is survived by his wife, Ronnie, his children, Audrey (Steve) and Adam (Stephanie), four grandchildren, stepchildren Vey (Mary), Dara (Run), Sara, and David, along with many step-grandchildren. Mike requested to be cremated. A celebration of his life is still being determined by his family. In lieu of flowers or donations, he would have wanted a glass raised and a funny memory shared while listening to "The Crystal Ship" by The Doors.
Mike will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.
