Michael Richard Corcoran, born on February 8, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on October 30, 2025. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose spirit and warmth touched the lives of many.
Michael was married to his devoted wife, Julie Ann Corcoran, for over 38 years. They shared a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. As a father, he took great pride in his children, including his daughters, Brianna (Ethan) Zonca and Theresa (Kelley) Bassett, as well as his son, Scott (Regina) Corcoran. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Katrina Salihu, Arben Salihu, Shelby Bassett, Caimen Corcoran, and Keira Corcoran, who he loved sharing memorable family stories with.
A man of great character, Michael was known for his sense of humor and strong work ethic. He was known to tell stories and jokes, often entertaining his family with fond memories. His personality was a joy to all who knew him.
Michael was passionate about nature and often spent his free time taking nature walks at Kensington Park, landscaping and gardening, and capturing the beauty of wildlife through animal photography.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, his children, grandchildren, and his siblings: Mark (the late Pam) Corcoran, Martha (the late Winfred) Jordan, and Mary Harrell. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Gilbert and Lorraine Pauline Corcoran.
As friends, family, and all whose lives he touched come together to honor Michael's memory, they will celebrate a life well-lived and the enduring love and laughter he leaves behind.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on November 6, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 3pm at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, located at 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI 48170. All are welcome to join in remembering and celebrating the wonderful life of Michael R. Corcoran.
