Michael D. Costa

Michael Dennis Costa, 69, loving husband of Donna Lee (Jackson) Costa, passed away in the early afternoon on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, in Canterbury, CT from a heart attack in his home. Born on December 15, 1954 in Norwich, CT, Michael was the only son of Antone Costa and Loretta May (Bowers) Greene. He was raised in Norwich, CT with his two sisters Pamela and Toni.
Michael was a simple man, unapologetically himself in all that he did. He married his wife, Donna, on March 10, 1972 and together shared a life of love and compassion with their children, Jennifer, Benjamin, and Michael.
His passion as a master carpenter carried with him throughout his life and into retirement, whistling his way through each project he did. He found great happiness in his beloved dog, Coffee, who he spent hours walking each day. He was also an avid gardener, spending his days with his plants and the birds which he loved. Above all, Michael loved being a grandfather, and took great pride in the family he created.
Michael is survived by his wife of 51 years, Donna, his daughter Jennifer (Costa) Dombkowski and her husband Scott Dombkowski, his son Michael Costa and wife Deanna (Mantoni) Costa, and his six grandchildren: Waverly Dombkowski, Caroline Costa, Jameson Costa, Gulliver Dombkowski, Sullivan Dombkowski, and Mabel Costa. He is also survived by his sister-by-heart, Lisa Jackson, brothers-in-law, Donald and Stephen Jackson, and a world of people who experienced all the love he had to share. He is predeceased by his parents and son Benjamin.
A small, private service was held with his immediate family, a simple man's wish.
