Michael Owen Council

CORDELE- Michael Owen Council, age 71, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Willson Hospice House in Albany, Georgia. Memorial services are being planned for a later date.

Michael was born in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Gary Dole Council and Joyce Council. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary, a son, Seston Council, and a sister, Winona Myers. Michael was passionate about horses and farming. Along with his family, he built a very successful business training horses. He took great pride in his knowledge of horses and his family's adeptness in training. Throughout his life he held fast to his faith in Christ, and cherished his family above everything.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Council of Cordele, GA; whom he has been married to for 52 years. He is also survived by his children: John Council and his wife Dana of Seville, GA, Mike Council and his wife Jennifer of Cobb, GA, and Amy Robillard and her husband Jamie of Davenport, FL; his sisters: Sheila Slayton of Crawfordville, FL, Angela Velardi of Bradenton, FL, and Sonja Whitney of Bainbridge, GA; and his grandchildren: Luke McCarty and his wife Maddie, Josie McCarty, Carsyn Robillard, Michael Robillard, Ethan Council, Emma Council, Ella Council, and Eli Council.
