It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected death of Michael Fernand Couture, lifelong Fairfield resident. Mike was a triplet born on December 4th, 1971 along with his brothers Christopher Couture and Father Jeffrey Couture, a current Roman Catholic Priest for the Diocese of Bridgeport. Mike was a true Fairfielder growing up near Fairfield beach, enjoying family outings, like days on the beach, and events such as Fairfield fireworks, Fairfield day and many other typical events in town.
Mike grew up playing little league baseball and Wakeman Boys Club basketball with his 2 brothers and belonged to Indian guides. Through these times his father was active in his life by coaching and leading such activities. He attended both St. Thomas and Holy Family Catholic schools and attended Ludlowe High his freshman year and then Fairfield High his sophomore year. During high school, Mike discovered his love for landscaping, which upon graduating high school dedicated his life to making a living up until his passing. He also worked as a limo, truck and school bus driver, personal chauffeur for many elderly, as well as worked in oil delivery. Mike was also an avid collector of many things near and dear to his heart.
Mike was a lifelong devoted Catholic who was an altar server growing up at Holy Family Parish and a person who lived out his faith in the service to others. He was known to help many people and would give the "shirt off his back" for a perfect stranger. He is known by many in Fairfield and socialized with everyone whether he knew them or not.
Mike was predeceased by his father Fernand Couture. He is survived by his mother Judy Tomascak and her husband Mike, his sister Michelle Anderson and her husband Bruce, his brother Christopher Couture and his wife Amy and his brother Father Jeffrey Couture. Mike is also survived by his nieces and nephews who were very special to him including Melissa Capuano, Christopher Anderson and Christopher, Alexandria and Julian Couture as well as many other loved ones.
A wake service will be held on Friday, July 25 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Spear- Miller Funeral Home located at 39 South Benson Road in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on July 26 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Road in Fairfield. Interment will immediately follow at St. John's Cemetery at 500 Moose Hill Road in Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome to be made to the Daughters of Charity, 1490 North Ave., Bridgeport, CT 06604.
People are also invited to place Mike in prayer enrollments such as Our Lady of Mount Carmel Shrines, The Divine Mercy Shrine and The Association of Marian Helpers and similar.
