Michael Donatucci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc. on Apr. 6, 2023.
Donatucci, Michael S.
Michael Stephan Donatucci, born December 31, 1952, died peacefully at home in the company of his wife on April 1, 2023. Michael was predeceased by his father, Dominic Donatucci; mother, Bertha (Aversano); sister, Sandra Proud; sister-in-law Jayne Donatucci. Michael is survived by Nancy, his wife of 47 years; his brother Raymond; his daughters; Sara and Christine; four grandchildren, Lily, Julia, Kate, and Paul; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
After graduating Gates-Chili High School in 1971, Michael went on to attend RIT, graduating with his MBA in 1982. Michael worked at Lawyers Co-Op and retired from Paychex in the late 2000s. Michael lived a life full of service to his community and friends. He was most active in his church, Lake Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a member for over 30 years. In addition, Michael volunteered at many organizations over the course of his life, including Pencils and Papers, the George Eastman House Museum, First Tee, an organization that taught young people how to golf, the Center for Youth Services, Neighborhood HOPE, Cameron Community Ministries, Young Life, the School Based Planning Committee at School of the Arts (while his daughters attended school there), and Lake Avenue Baptist Church. In his spare time, he was a consummate host and gourmand, avid golfer, and soccer enthusiast.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Michael knew him as a person full of love for his family and friends. His biggest accomplishment and greatest source of pride was being a wonderful father and papa to his grandchildren. Summer vacations were spent with his grandchildren, attending amusement parks, baseball games, and spending time outdoors. He never missed an opportunity to support his family, children, grandchildren or friends any way he could. Michael and his wife opened their home throughout the years to many children. He and Nancy were able to provide a safe and supportive temporary home for over 50 girls through his family's volunteer work with the Center for Youth Services. The holidays were always a time for Michael and the family to welcome many friends, old and new, into their home. This past year, Michael was able to see his eldest granddaughter graduate high school, vacation with his family, and travel to Italy with his wife and close friends.
A celebration of Michael's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 22nd, 2023, at Lake Avenue Memorial Baptist Church, 70 Ambrose Street, Rochester, NY 14608. In lieu of flowers, donations, in his memory, may be made via check to Young Life NY 73, and mailed to:
