Michael Wayne Dooley,51, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on February 26, 2025. He was born on July 3,1973, in Bedford, a son of John Taylor Dooley and Gloria Overstreet Dooley. Mike was preceded in death by his grandparents, Owen and Iris Overstreet; Kenneth and Kitty Dooley; and Nephew, Jake Grant.
Known best for his big grin, Michael Wayne never met a stranger and always had a kind word. You could always count on Michael to arrive first and the last to leave making sure every moment was enjoyed. The only things that topped his love for his Tarheels, Bears and Braves were the lights of his life, his wife Heather and their two boys Coleman and Charlie bug. Michael never thought he would be married let alone have children so he cherished every moment and activity with them especially his family Friday Nights. His favorite weekends were spent at his family house at Smith Mountain Lake and summer vacations at Ocean City Maryland. Graduating from Liberty High School, Michael still holds the school record for longest field goal at 49 yards!
Mike is survived by his wife, Heather Gray Sweitzer Dooley; two sons, Coleman Wayne Dooley, Charles Kenneth Dooley; parents, J.T. and Gloria Dooley; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Gloria Sweitzer; brother, Jamie Dooley (Erin); sister, Melissa Bickford (Chad); nephews, Luca, Landon, Levi Dooley; nieces, Jesse Taylor, Kel Bickford;; best friend and big brother, Randy (Bear) Barlow; good friend, Ben Smith numerous other family and good friends.
