Michael H. "Mike" Durnell

Michael H. "Mike" Durnell, 82 of Fort Wayne went to be with Jesus Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. Mike was born on April 4, 1943, in Fort Wayne, the son of Howard and Ruth (Wiehe) Durnell. He married Shirley Sorg; she survives.

He was a hard worker, retiring from BF Goodrich in 1994. He kept working after his retirement, whether it was mowing lawns or caring for Sycamore Hills. He enjoyed traveling, tinkering on things and woodworking. He was a man of faith and attended St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for many years and was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son, Bob (Diane) Durnell; sister, Julie (Pat) Grandy and a brother, Tom (Karen) Durnell. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am, Friday, March 6, 2026, at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne and one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

Memorial donations may be directed to masses at St Elizabeth Ann Seton or to Stillwater Hospice.
