Michael Leigh Eaton, aged 73, passed away on April 28th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Born in Durham, N.C., to the late Ralph Wayne and Laura Cockerham Eaton.
After graduating from Camden Military Academy, Mike pursued further education at Appalachian State University and Forsyth Tech. Mike served his country honorably as a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career in car sales, where his enthusiasm and expertise left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work, Mike found joy in watching Duke Basketball and golf, passions that brought him excitement and entertainment. He also enjoyed attending antique auctions, where he was affectionately known by his auction number, #999.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Kathy Johnson Eaton, three sons; Jonathan Marcy of Roebuck, SC, Christopher(Jennifer) of Concord, N.C., and Bradford Marcy(Deva) of Spartanburg, S.C., a daughter; Lorrie Gray of Florida, a brother; Jimmy Eaton of Missouri, a sister; Diane Bullard(Tony) of Sanford, N.C., a daughter in law; Michelle Eaton of Florida, a brother in law; Ricky Johnson(Denise) of Easley, S.C., a sister in law; Sharon Eaton of Fayetteville, N.C., his fur babies; Bambi and Kiki, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son; Michael Leigh Eaton II, a brother; Ralph Wayne Eaton, and two sisters; Deborah Eaton Norris, and Denise Eaton Frost.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, 2 P.M. at the J.M. Dunbar Funeral Home. Rev. Andrew Wolfe, pastor of Mike’s church home, St. James United Methodist Church, will be officiating. A visitation will be held beforehand from 1:00 P.M. to 1:45 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Heritage Memorial Gardens with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mike may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road Suite 300, Jacksonville , FL 32256.
