Michael Dean Hensel Emerson, age 62, of Sacramento, California, passed away on a bright and beautiful day. He spent his last moments doing something he loved, with the same energy he had for life.
Mike was a man of unmistakable presence who brightened every room he entered. He lived out loud, loved without a safety net, and offered an authenticity that is rare to find.
Mike’s passions were a central part of who he was. He trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 20+ years and earned his black belt in 2024. He also loved being active in other ways - whether cycling, snowboarding, riding his Onewheel or electric unicycle (EUC), he embraced movement and the joy of the outdoors.
His legacy lives on in those he loved most: his wife, Chona Emerson; his son, Chase, and daughter-in-law, Claire, along with his granddaughter, Jilly; and his daughter, Chelsea, and grandson, Craig.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service or viewing. Those who wish to honor Mike are invited to do so by enjoying a beautiful day, following what brings them joy, and holding their loved ones close.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever remembered.
