Michael Wilton Engell

Michael Wilton Engell, 77 of Marion, Mississippi passed away on April 18, 2024. A memorial will be held Sunday, April 21, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Marion, where he was a lifelong member. Visitation will be at 2:00, with service to follow at 3:00.
Mike was born on June 20, 1946, to Aubrey Fewell Engell and Marjory Watson Engell of Marion, Mississippi.
Following his graduation from Meridian High School, Mike went on to study business and accounting at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was an auditor for the United States Navy and served with the Mississippi Air National Guard. Mike then made the decision to return to Marion and join Engell's Auto Parts, the family business.
Mike married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Ann Couch Engell, on June 3, 1967, at First Baptist Church of Marion. Bett and Mike are parents to Douglas Michael Engell (Stephanie) and Matthew Fewell Engell. They are proud grandparents of Zachary Fewell, Garrett Michael, and Dylan Matthew Engell.
Mike spent many hours at the Northeast Little League Baseball Field where he coached his sons. He enthusiastically enjoyed, attended, and supported his grandsons' sports events, hunting, and fishing.
Mike was preceded in death by son, Matt Engell, his parents, Aubrey and Marjory Engell, in-laws, McLaurien and Hazel Miller Couch, and brother in-law, Gene Kinard. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bett, and son, Doug Engell (Stephanie), grandsons, Zachary, Garrett, and Dylan, sister, Apryl Engell Sharp (Jerome), and sister in-law Barbara Couch Kinard.
