Robert Robertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lakeside Funeral Home - Woodstock on Feb. 12, 2026.
Robert Glenn "Bob" Robertson, 75, of Woodstock, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on February 5, 2026.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gordon Robertson; his mother, Lelia Grace Robertson; and his brother, Bernice Junior Byram. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn "Gail" Robertson; his son, Robert "Glenn" Robertson Jr.; his daughter, Kelly Robertson Snyder (Michael Snyder); and his beloved grandchildren, Winter Robertson, Eleanor Schlich, Eli Schlich, and Lily Snyder. He is also survived by his sister, Janice Ainsworth; brother-in-law Harold "Budd" Manuel, Jr.; sister-in-law Sharon Manuel; and many extended family members.

Originally from Moss Point, Mississippi, Bob-known as "Bobby" in his early years-attended the University of Southern Mississippi. While completing his studies, he served as a Moss Point Police Officer and was an active member of ROTC. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant, with Gail by his side.

During his distinguished military career, Bob served as both a Military Police Officer and an Armor Officer, ultimately retiring at the rank of Major. In addition to numerous other honors, he earned the National Defense Medal, two Meritorious Service Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, and five U.S. Army Commendation Medals. A proud Airborne Ranger, Bob served in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during the Gulf War, in addition to completing other special missions. He was awarded three Bronze Star Southwest Asia Service Medals and the Kuwait Liberation Medal in recognition of his wartime contributions.

After 20 years of active-duty service, Bob continued his commitment to protecting others. He served in Force Protection Enforcement at Fort Benning, Georgia, and later as a Federal Emergency Management Specialist with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Strategic National Stockpile (SNS). In this role, he responded to national and public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bob was an automobile enthusiast, an avid outdoorsman, but above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends. He especially loved traveling with his wife, Gail, and remained grateful for the many adventures they shared around the world.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday, February 20, 2026. Family and friends are invited for visitation beginning at 10 AM, followed by a funeral service officiated by Dr. Michael Cromwell of Hillside Church at 12 PM. A burial ceremony with military honors will take place at 2 PM at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to either a veterans' support organization or the American Cancer Society in Bob's honor.
