It is with great sadness, that the family of Michael Thaine Evans announces his passing after a yearlong battle with cancer. He died peacefully at home with his loving family at his side on November 06, 2024.

Michael was born the middle child on August 13, 1945 in Oklahoma City to W.P. “Duke” and Ila Mae Evans. Michael grew up in Oklahoma City where he attended Harding High School. He later attended the University of Oklahoma where he graduated with a degree in economics and was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He then graduated the University of Oklahoma, College of Law. Michael also served in the Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973.

After completing school, Michael joined his father at Evans Furniture, a company his father founded in the 1930’s. Michael took over and led the company after the passing of his father in 1979 until 2003. Michael sold the business and retired in 2003.

Michael and his wife of 35 years, Lynn Ruffin Evans, moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where they lived until late 2023. During that time, Michael spent 21 years pursuing his passion for art. He loved photography, drawing and painting but his passion was sculpture. Michael and Lynn traveled the world, including trips to Europe, Southeast India, Borneo, and Bali. He especially enjoyed traveling to France, even trying to master the language. Michael also loved history. He could recite all the Kings and Queen of England, in chronological order, going back centuries off the top of his head.

Michael is preceded in death by his first wife, Kathy Mauch Evans, mother to David, and his parents, Duke and Ila Evans. He is survived by wife, Lynn Ruffin Evans, brother Larry Evans, sister Phyllis Corbyn, brother-in-law Sam Ruffin, son David Evans (Jennie) and many nieces and nephews.
