Michael Larry Evens

 

Michael Larry Evens, age 73, of Cadillac, Michigan formerly of Gaines, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 9, 2023, after a 10-month battle, he was reunited with the love of his life, his beloved late wife, Lucille Marie (Cornwell) Evens. A memorial service will take place at 12:00 PM, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Prior to the service, visitation will take place from 10:30 AM until the start of the memorial service. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Glioblastoma Research Organization.

Michael was born on September 14, 1950, in Flint, Michigan and was the youngest of four children of the late Woodrow Evens and Ethel Yelland. In 1969, Mike bought his first car- a Ford Mustang Boss 302. His love of cars translated much larger as Mike spent 39 years working for General Motors and was a proud member of UAW Local 598. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1970 until his honorable discharge in 1976. Michael and Lucille began their loving partnership in 1975 and were united in marriage in 1989. Mike was a wonderful father, brother, hunter, and outdoor enthusiast. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his spotted dogs, his son, in his Boss 302, and/or in a deer blind. 

He is survived by his son, Colton (Darby) Evens; his sister, Diana (Robert) Yelland; his brother, Robert (Ruth) Evens; and his sister, Patricia Pierce. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
