Shane Ezell, 52, a beloved member of the Waynesville community, passed away doing what he loved most as an avid hunter on November 18, 2023. He was born on March 7, 1971, and leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for years to come.

Education played an important role in Shane's life. He graduated from Tuscola High School in 1989 and pursued higher education at both Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University.

Shane had a diverse career that showcased his dedication and commitment. He began his professional journey as an employee at Bogarts of Waynesville before transitioning into the field of mortgage brokering with AERIAL ONE. Later, he worked at Evergreen Packaging Company until the closure of the mill. At the time of his passing, Shane was involved in production assembly with Wilson Art.

Known for his integrity, Shane was a man of his word. His infectious smile brightened the lives of those around him, creating an atmosphere filled with joy and laughter. He enjoyed spending time at the boathouse on Lake Fontana, where he could relax and take in the natural beauty around him. Shane's culinary skills were renowned among his friends and family; he excelled as an excellent chef. One could never predict what hairstyle he would be sporting next - earning him the nickname "Hair Chameleon." Despite any challenges he faced, Shane approached life with unwavering positivity and authenticity.  Known as "Funcle Shane" - Fun Uncle to those closest to him - he brought joy into the lives of his family and friends.

In addition to his professional achievements, Shane took great pride in being a Gold Certified Technician for Stihl. This accomplishment spoke to his dedication to excellence and his ability to excel in his chosen field.  He was a Mr. Fixit!

Shane was a proud member of the Waynesville Elks Lodge Post 1769.

Shane had a deep love for hunting, which served as a cherished hobby throughout his life. It allowed him to connect with nature and find solace in its beauty.

Survived by many loved ones, Shane leaves behind a profound void in their lives. Deborah Galloway Ezell, his wife of 30 years, supported him through every endeavor and stood by his side as a pillar of strength. Shane was also a beloved father to Raymond Walter Ezell (Grace), affectionately known as Walt. His parents, Raymond McDaniel Ezell and Rita Mae Culbreth Ezell, cherished their son deeply. Additionally, Shane is survived by his brothers Raymond Parrish Ezell (Aimee) and James Seth Ezell (Daly), who shared a strong bond of brotherhood.  In addition, Shane is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

Shane will be remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his family, his infectiously positive personality, and the impact he had on the community. The void left by his passing will be felt by all those who were fortunate enough to have known him.  As we interact with people throughout our lives, we should all "Love Like Shane".
