Michael Joseph Falencki July 19, 1978 – September 16, 2025 Michael Joseph Falencki passed away on September 16, 2025, at the age of 47. A devoted husband, loving son and brother, and respected public servant, Michael lived a full life defined by intellect, dedication, and a quiet joy in the world around him. Born on July 19, 1978, Michael grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina. He attended Saint Patrick's Catholic School and Charlotte Catholic High School, where he distinguished himself as a scholar-athlete, excelling in the classroom and on the football field. His passion for the sport continued into college, where he played until an injury ended his playing career. Michael was the first in his family to attend an Ivy League institution, earning his bachelor's degree in History from Yale University. While there, he was a resident of Ezra Stiles College and enjoyed the camaraderie of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He went on to build an impressive career in public service and government affairs. Michael began his career as a Legislative Assistant and later became Legislative Director and Deputy Chief of Staff to Representative Sam Graves (R–MO), where he helped shape meaningful policy through his trademark hard work, intelligence, integrity, and dedication. He continued his work with Congressman Graves as Deputy Staff Director for the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Between his time in the Congressman's personal office and committee office, Michael served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of the Keelen Group, a Washington, D.C.–based government relations firm, and as Operations Director at Morgan Stanley. At the time of his passing, Michael was a Principal at Cornerstone Government Affairs, one of the nation's leading public affairs firms. Beyond his professional life, Michael was a man of many pursuits. A diehard Philadelphia sports fan, he rooted for both the Eagles and the Phillies. Michael found peace in nature with his beloved wife, Celeste - especially birdwatching, where Michael loved to share his latest sightings with his mother, Barbara. Together, the couple traveled widely, with Europe serving as the backdrop for many of their favorite adventures. They made their home in Annapolis, Maryland, where they shared countless quiet moments - and many with their cats, Coco and Ruby - appreciating life's simple pleasures. Michael is survived by his wife, Celeste Millio, of Annapolis; his parents, Peter and Barbara Falencki, of Greenwich, Connecticut; his brother, Joseph Falencki, and sister-in-law, Jessica and their children, Annabelle, Emmalynn and Wesley, all of Greenwich, Connecticut; and his youngest brother, Matthew Falencki of Charlotte, North Carolina. Michael is also survived by his in-laws, Lauren and Soren Harbom, of Annapolis. Michael will be remembered for his quick wit and keen intellect, his warm smile and massive bear hugs, and his deep sense of duty - to his family, his friends, and his work. He moved through the world with humility, curiosity, and unwavering care for those around him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church, 620 North Bestgate Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21401. All who knew and loved Michael are welcome to attend and celebrate his life. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich, Connecticut, at a later date.
